PoolSchools are taking a number of measures to ensure the safety of staff swimmers and spectators. In many cases PoolSchools normal teaching methods are above and beyond those required under the current guidance.

F2 and F3 classes will not commence until later in the term. We have carefully considered the nature of swimming and that younger swimmer need more reassurance and confidence. We believe that younger swimmer will benefit from a period when they rebuild confidence when reengaging with school and the wider world. Swimming can for some, can initially  be a traumatic experience . Therefore we have decide to delay the resumption of F2 F3 classes.

All other levels Parent & Child Ducks F1assisted, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, P7, Gulls and adults are running

Specific measures:

  • The number of classes have been reduced at Dunottar:
  • 1 parent per swimmer
  • Class sizes reduce by 2 per class some by 3
  • Class times have been staggered
  • Lessons will run for 25 mins
  • Swimmers must be in their allotted pre class seating area 5 minutes before the start of a lesson
  • To maintain the integrity of the queue swimmers cannot queue jump if they are late                .
    • if you are late you wait
  • Children who are more than 10 min late will not be admitted

What to expect

  • Que outside before the lesson starts
  • You will be allowed into the building before your class
  • Come beech ready
  • Hats and goggles on
  • Parents put on ducks and F1 body belts

When entering the building turn left

A one-way system of entering and exiting is in operation

  • Parents and spectators Are required to wear masks when in the building (Unless exempt)
  • A one-way system will operate in the pool
  • Entry and exit are at different doors
  • Staff will not be able to physical assist the children
  • Teacher wear shields at the start and end of each lesson Not while swimmers are in the water
  • Teachers will have different equipment for each class disinfected between groups
  • Certain teaching methods and activities have been stopped
  • When leaving you can towel and leave or use changing rooms
  • Changing facilities are limited to 4 people in each changing facility
  • Changing rooms will be cleaned between lessons
  • Toilets are not available for non-swimmer (All toilet are in the changing rooms)
  • Showers are out of bounds and not open
