About PoolSchools
In the realm of aquatic education, few companies shine as brightly as PoolSchools. Renowned for its commitment to excellent, engaging teaching, PoolSchools has emerged as a leading provider of swimming instruction, lifeguard training, and crash course sessions. With a mission to empower individuals of all ages with essential water skills, PoolSchools has established itself as a beacon of aquatic proficiency.
History and Evolution
PoolSchools has undergone a remarkable evolution since its inception, having opened its first pool in Essex in 2006. PoolSchools are proudly working in partnership with 12 pools, offering lessons to over 3000 swimmers. Recruiting over 100 members of staff and supporting Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Volunteer programmes for under 16s, the company has gone from strength to strength. Over the years, PoolSchools has continually adapted its teaching to meet the evolving needs of its swimmers, staying at the forefront of industry standards and best practices.
The daily overseeing of PoolSchools is undertaken by a team of supervisors lead by Catherine Carr and Robert Vowell. All excellent swim teaching professionals.
Catherine (Catt) has been in the PoolSchools family since the start and been pivotal in the growth and development of the scheme. Robert (Bobby), joining the largest site as a receptionist, took on every role available to him, training as a lifeguard, Level 1, Level 2 and then joining the management team in 2018, his dynamic nature is a welcomed boost. Catherine and Robert have the vision and dedication to push PoolSchools forwards for the next 20 years and beyond.
Comprehensive Curriculum
At the heart of PoolSchools’ success lies its slightly different approach to teaching. Creating a programme of swimming education as a parent rather than as a tick box process. The founder of PoolSchools, Ian Humble, was part of the team that created the AquaQuack swim scheme which comes away from the more common learn to swim programmes. Its focus is; safety, confidence and technique… not distance.
We hear all the time “My swimmer can swim 6 lengths”. What the AquaQuack Swim Scheme focuses on, is how those lengths are achieved – the quality of the breathing and stroke technique will determine whether the swimmer can maintain that distance, progress and be safe with an effective technique.
Commitment to Safety
Safety is paramount at PoolSchools, and rigorous safety protocols are integrated into every aspect of the curriculum. From onsite lifeguards, teachers in the water to lifeguard training and staff development. PoolSchools equips all staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations. Keeping up to date with the latest legislations and safe-guarding practices is a high priority
Community Engagement
Beyond its role as an educational institution, PoolSchools is deeply invested in the communities it serves. Through partnerships with schools, community centres, and local organizations, PoolSchools promotes water safety awareness and provides access to swimming instruction for underserved populations. Additionally, PoolSchools supports community events and fundraisers.
Looking Ahead
As PoolSchools looks to the future, its commitment to excellence remains unwavering. With a continued focus on safety, inclusivity, and progression, PoolSchools is poised to shape the next generation of water enthusiasts. Whether you’re dipping your toes into the water for the first time or striving for the perfect stroke, PoolSchools invites you to dive in and discover the transformative power of aquatic education.
